How Do I Create Events in My Mighty Network?

Updated over a week ago

The Events feature is available for those on The Community Plan or above, and offers the ability to create a series of events. In addition, the Single Event feature is available on The Business Plan or above. Both types can be used to create virtual or in-person events to share with your members. You can enable event features inside of any Space in your Mighty Network.

How to Enable the Events Feature

To enable Events within a Space in your Mighty Network go to the gear icon > Space Features > Events

On this screen, you can change the name of the feature from Events to a custom name, and you may choose to only let Hosts and moderators create Events in that space, or let everyone (including members) create Events.

How to Create an Event

Once Events are enabled in a Space, you can use the + button to create an Event.

From there, you'll see options to customize the Event:

You'll see options to select and customize:

  • The title of your Event

  • If you want the Event to immediately show in the Feed when it's posted (if you have the feature enabled)

  • The start time and end time for the Event, including time zone (for online Events, members will see the Event's time in their local time zone, and for Local Events, you can indicate if the Event's time zone differs from the member's local time)

  • If you want this to be a Repeat Event

  • The Event Type

When you publish your event you may choose to notify all members or you can schedule it to publish later. Note that Single Events cannot be scheduled, but the Single Event feature tab itself can be set to Hidden until ready to display.

Note: Once an Event has been created, the Event Host cannot be changed.

How to Create a Single Event

The Single Event is a feature of the Business Plan and higher.

To enable it, you will turn on the Single Event feature in the Space Features settings.

When enabling the Single Event feature in the Space Admin, you will be able to toggle on and off the visibility of the event, edit the Event itself and change the Display Name, which will change the name of the feature tab in the Space.

Here’s what the event looks like when finished. It is similar to the Page Feature.

When you click Edit in the upper right-hand corner,

You'll see options to select and customize:

  • The title of your Event

  • The start time and end time for the Event, including time zone (for online Events, members will see the Event's time in their local time zone, and for Local Events, you can indicate if the Event's time zone differs from the member's local time)

  • The Event Type

  • The main header image for your event.

  • The description for your Event (this area can include unlimited images, media embeds, file attachments, formatted text, and more—just like any Article you create in your Mighty Network)

When scroll down and click the Event Settings:

You'll see options to select and customize:

  • If RSVPs are enabled for the event.

  • If you want the live indicator to show or not.

  • If you want to turn on or off comments.

  • If you want this event to appear in the Feed of the Space.

  • The thumbnail image when events are displayed in list form.

How to Manage Event Settings:

Once an Event is published, you can make changes by clicking on “Manage Event Settings”

Here, you can change the settings for:

  • RSVPs

  • Show Live Indicator

  • Post in Activity Feed

  • Zoom Options (if applicable)

  • Thumbnail Image

Where Events Show Up in Your Mighty Network

When you publish an Event, it will show up in the Event tab in the Space that you posted it to (with the exception of events added using the Single Event feature).

On the Events list you'll also see an option to expand a calendar view that showcases all the Events in a single Space.

If you have the Event Global Feature enabled, then all of the Events that you or your member has access to, will appear in chronological order (including events from the Single Event feature). There is also an option here to expand to a calendar view.

There are also tabs to view Nearby Events (Local Events nearby to the location saved in your profile), Past Events, and Your Events (the Events you've RSVP'd to).

Events in the calendar view will be color-coded according to the Space where the Event exists.

How Time Zones Display

When you set a start time and end time for an Event, you can include the time zone. For any Online Events you create, members will see the Event's time converted to their local time zone. For Local Events, you can indicate if the Event's time zone differs from the member's local time.

Managing Event RSVPs

If you choose to give members the option to RSVP for your Event, you have a few different options available for how to manage RSVPs, including the options to restrict the Event Link or close RSVPs. You can also message Event attendees based on their RSVP status and download a full list of RSVPs.

Event Reminder Notifications

Members who RSVP "Going" or "Maybe" to an Online Event will automatically receive a reminder notification 10 minutes before the Event is about to start. For Local Events, reminders are automatically sent 24 hours and 2 hours before the Event. For virtual events, Event reminders contain a link to the Event within Mighty Networks, but not a direct link to the event room (Zoom links, Crowdcast, etc.)

Event Ticketing

On the Business Plan or higher, you can create a Single Event and charge for that Space by creating a plan!
