How Do I Create Zoom Events on Mighty Networks?

Updated over 2 weeks ago

The Zoom integration that's available within your Mighty Network enables you to connect your Zoom account directly and schedule Zoom Events right within your Mighty Network. The integration is available on web and mobile.

In order to use this option, you will need to have a Zoom account. Zoom offers a variety of plans and features, including the ability to have a free account.

Connecting Your Zoom Account

When you are creating or editing an Event in your Mighty Network, you'll see an option in the Event Type dropdown to select Zoom.

Once you've selected Zoom as the Event Type, you'll see a prompt to connect your Zoom account.

In order to use the Zoom integration and ensure we can properly sync your Mighty Networks Zoom meetings to your Zoom account, you will need to accept the following agreements and confirm access. It is also possible to bypass the Zoom captcha that appears when you are connecting your account during this flow.

Note: At this time, only one Mighty Network can be connected to the same Zoom account.

Choose “Sign In” to connect your current Zoom account, or “Create an Account” if you don’t already have one. You can [learn more here] about the different types of Zoom accounts.

To use the Zoom integration and make sure your Mighty Networks meetings sync correctly with Zoom, you’ll need to:

  • Accept the agreements, and

  • Confirm access.

During setup, you can also skip the Zoom captcha that may appear.

Scheduling a Zoom Event

After you connect your Zoom account to your Mighty Networks account, you’ll unlock all the options for scheduling a Zoom Event.

Depending on what your Zoom plan includes, you can choose to schedule either a Zoom Meeting or a Zoom Webinar. The Event types available to you will depend on the features your Zoom account supports.

Zoom Meeting

A Zoom Meeting lets you host video calls and chat with others using:

  • HD video and audio

  • Recording options

  • A chat window

  • Collaboration toolsOnce you've successfully connected a Zoom account to your Mighty Networks account, you'll see full options for scheduling a Zoom Event.

Then, depending on what your Zoom account supports, you can select if you want to schedule a Zoom Meeting or a Zoom Webinar. Your ability to create either of these Event Types will depend on the features enabled on your Zoom account.

Zoom Webinar

A Zoom Webinar is best for virtual events where you want a more formal presentation and need tools for larger audiences. This option requires a Zoom upgrade if it’s not already part of your plan. If your account supports webinars, you’ll see this option available.

Note: For Events that use the Zoom integration, only the Event Creator can edit the Event Settings. This is because the Zoom account is tied to the person who created the Event.

  • If you want any Host to edit the Event, choose a different Event type and paste in a Zoom link instead.

  • Updates made in either Mighty Networks or Zoom should sync with each other in almost real time.

Members Experience

Members will see a link on the Event page that takes them to your Zoom Event. If the Event is happening live, they’ll also see a large “Join Now” button to join right away.

When a member clicks the Zoom link, it will open the Zoom app on their device (or prompt them to install it if they don’t already have it).

  • On web: If members don’t have the Zoom app installed, they can still join through their web browser without installing the app or creating a Zoom account.

  • On mobile: If members don’t have the Zoom app, they can still join by phone without installing the app or making a Zoom account.

Connecting Zoom Accounts

Each person (Host or member) can connect their own Zoom account to their Mighty Networks account when creating Events.

If you want to limit who can create Events in your Mighty Network or in a specific Space, go to Content Settings and restrict Event creation to Hosts and Moderators only.

You can also use a shared Zoom account that multiple people connect to. There’s no limit on how many people can use the same Zoom credentials, but there are a few things to keep in mind.

Important Things to Know About Shared Zoom Accounts

Connecting:
Everyone creating Zoom Events must connect the shared Zoom account to their personal Mighty Networks account before they can use it.

Overlapping Events:
Zoom doesn’t allow multiple meetings or webinars at the same time on the same account. Make sure shared accounts don’t schedule overlapping Events.

Disconnecting:
If one person disconnects the shared Zoom account, it disconnects for everyone. Only share credentials with trusted Hosts or Moderators.

Permissions:
If you try to open a Zoom Event another Host scheduled, you may run into permission issues. Depending on your Zoom plan, you may be able to add an alternate Host in Zoom so they can open the Event too.

Editing Event Settings

  • Only the Event Creator can edit Zoom Event settings in Mighty Networks, since the Zoom account is tied to their login.

  • If you want any Host to edit, create a Meeting-type Event instead and paste in a Zoom link.

How to Disconnect Your Zoom Account

  1. Go to Personal Settings > Account > Zoom.

  2. Click Unlink to disconnect your Zoom account.

When you disconnect:

  • Any Zoom Events you created will switch to “Meeting” type events with a Zoom link.

When you reconnect the same Zoom account:

  • Your past Zoom Events will switch back to Zoom Event type automatically.

  • You can also connect a different Zoom account, but first sign out at Zoom.us so it doesn’t re-link to the same one.

How Zoom and Mighty Networks Stay in Sync

  • Zoom Events created in Mighty Networks sync automatically to your account on Zoom.us, and updates work both ways.

  • If you schedule the same Zoom Event across two Mighty Networks, changes in one will sync to the other and to Zoom.us.

  • If you use your Personal Meeting ID, any changes to Event settings in Mighty Networks (like password or recording options) will also change those defaults on Zoom.us.

    • Example: If you change the password for a Zoom Event in Mighty Networks, that password will also update on Zoom.us for all meetings tied to your Personal Meeting ID.
