Overview

Zapier is a powerful tool that automates tasks between Mighty Networks and other applications. For example, you can automatically add new members to your Mailchimp list when they join your Network.

Here’s how Zaps work:

  • Trigger: An event that starts the workflow (e.g., a new member joins).

  • Action: The task performed as a result of the Trigger (e.g., adding the member to your Mailchimp list).

Types of Zaps:

  • Mighty Trigger → Mighty Action: An event in Mighty Networks triggers an action within Mighty Networks (e.g., a member joins and a Quick Post is created).

  • Third-Party Trigger → Mighty Action: An event in another app triggers an action in Mighty Networks (e.g., a contact is added in HubSpot and a member is tagged in Mighty Networks).

  • Mighty Trigger → Third-Party Action: An event in Mighty Networks triggers an action in another app (e.g., a member joins a Special Space and they are tagged in your CRM).

  • Third-Party Trigger → Third-Party Action: An event in one app triggers an action in another app (e.g., a new record in Salesforce triggers an action in Mailchimp).

  • Free Plan: Supports single Trigger → single Action Zaps.

  • Paid Plan: Allows for Multi-step Zaps, which can include multiple Actions. For advanced needs, you may use ‘sub-zaps’ or duplicate Zaps to handle different Triggers and Actions.

Note: Only Network Hosts can set up Zapier integrations. To start using Zapier, create an account and set up your Zaps according to your needs.

Understanding Zapier Triggers for Mighty Networks

Zapier triggers are events that start your Zaps, automating actions based on activities in your Mighty Network. Here’s a comprehensive guide to the triggers we support:

Member Activity Triggers

  • Joined: Activates when a member joins your Network or a Space. You can choose to trigger this for the entire Network or specific Spaces.

  • Updated Profile: Activates when a member updates their profile.

  • Left: Activates when a member leaves your Network or a Space. You can specify whether it applies to the whole Network or selected Spaces.

  • Requested to Join: This trigger activates when a member requests to join your Network or a specific Space. You can activate it for the entire Network or select specific Spaces.

  • Requested to Join Plan: Activates when a member requests to join a plan. Select specific plans or leave blank to apply to all plans.

  • Purchased Plan: Activates when a member purchases a plan for the first time. Choose specific plans (and indicate if there is a free trial) or apply to all.

  • Removed from Plan: Activates when a member is removed from a plan under the following conditions:

  • At the End of the Billing Period:

    • A member cancels their subscription plan and completes the remainder of their billing period.

    • A Host removes a member from a subscription plan and selects the "end of billing period" option.

  • Immediately:

    • A Host removes a member from a subscription plan and selects the "immediately" option.

    • A Host removes a member from a Free, Non-Paid, or One-Time Purchase Plan.
Note: Members cannot remove themselves from Free, Non-Paid, or One-Time Purchase Plans.

  • Canceled Subscription to Plan: Activates immediately when a member cancels their plan, allowing time for retention actions. You can select specific plans or leave it blank to apply to any plan.

Content and Engagement Triggers

  • New Content: Activates when a new content type is posted. Includes:

    • Quick Post

    • Articles

    • Events

    • Questions

    • Hot/Cold Polls

    • Percentage Polls

    • Multiple Choice Polls

  • RSVPd to an Event: Activates when a member RSVPs (yes, no or maybe) to any event, either at the Network or Space level. Use a filter if you need to specify specific Spaces.

Progress and Activity Triggers

  • Table of Contents Progress Update: Activates when a member’s Table of Contents progress changes, including the specific progress percentage. Note: Updates have a delay of up to one hour to prevent notification overload if a member is progressing quickly. No Space filtering options are available; use a filter to specify Spaces if needed.

  • Ambassador Level-Up: Activates when a member advances to a new Ambassador level (e.g., Bronze to Silver). The trigger only activates when a member reaches a new level based on their referrals.

Tag and Badge Management Triggers

  • Manage Tag:

    • Tag Added: Activates when a tag is added to a member.

    • Tag Removed: Activates when a tag is removed from a member.

  • Manage Badge:

    • Badge Added: Activates when a badge is awarded to a member.

    • Badge Removed: Activates when a badge is taken away from a member.

  3. Trigger Tab (if applicable): Choose specific child triggers or options related to the main event.

  4. Test Tab: Test the connection and pull test records to use in your Zap setup.

Setting Up Actions

  2. Test Tab:

    • Test: Executes the Action so you can see it in action (e.g., posting an article).

    • Skip Test: Only tests the connection without performing the Action (e.g., verifying setup without posting a test article).

  3. Publish Zap:

    • Once you’ve tested or skipped the test, you need to publish your Zap for it to activate. Without publishing, the Zap will not run.

Additional Tabs

  • App & Event Tab: Same as with Triggers, where you choose the app and event.

  • Account Tab: Select your Mighty Network/Host Account for the Action.
