How Do I Upload Native Videos to My Mighty Network?
Updated this week

For Network Hosts on all Paid Plans, we support uploading native videos (videos not hosted on YouTube, Vimeo, etc...) directly to Articles and Quick Posts.

For more information on how to embed video from and external source, check out this article.

For Network Hosts, the upload file limit is 4GB. Space Moderators and Space Hosts will only be able to upload videos as file attachments, and file attachments need to be 25MB or smaller.

On Mighty Pro, Network Hosts can enable native video uploading on Posts for Network moderators and members by reaching out to our team.

If you're on our Courses Plan or higher, you also have the ability to upload videos directly to your Table of Content feature.

To protect your content and to ensure that it is not shared beyond your control, please note that videos natively uploaded by Hosts in Sections, Lessons, Articles, Quick Posts (anywhere in the platform) cannot be downloaded by Hosts, Moderators or members. We recommend using a third-party storage service like Google Drive to keep original copies of your content.

The ability to upload videos to Articles and Quick Posts is available on the web, iOS, and Android. Once they’ve been uploaded, your members will be able to watch your videos seamlessly across the web and all mobile apps.

Members will not be able to download uploaded videos just yet but we will offer this in the future. The maximum resolution for uploaded videos is 1080p.

When uploading from an Android device to your Mighty Network, you can only upload files from Google Drive for Quick Posts. For all other post formats, please select content stored directly on your device.

Quick Posts

To upload a video directly to a Quick Post, click the “+” at the top of your Space Feed to pull up the quick insert toolbar and you’ll see an icon that says “Photo, Video, File” when you mouse over it. Click the icon to upload your video file.

When playing a video from a Quick Post, your members will see the playback options from your video provider: closed captioning, playback speed, etc...

Playback speeds are available on native video uploads and videos embedded with YouTube on web and mobile web.

Video Captions

Video captions are available on all platforms for videos uploaded natively in Table of Contents, Overview, Lessons, Sections, Quick Posts, Articles, Events, and Pages.

After uploading a video, Hosts will see the “cc” icon in the upper-right corner.

Hovering over the “cc” icon displays this tooltip: “Click to enable or disable the caption options for viewers”.

If you enable captions, then viewers will see the option to turn them on or off when watching a video.

If you choose to disable them, viewers will not see the option to turn on captions.

Some important things to note:

  • Captions are auto-generated. There isn’t yet a way to upload or download a caption file for a video.

  • We only support English captions currently, but hope to expand to other languages in the future.

  • Captions are only available on natively uploaded videos, not livestream recordings. You will need to download the video to your computer and upload it natively to an Article if you’d like to include auto-generated captions.
