How Do I Invite People to My Mighty Network?

Updated this week

The best way to invite people to your Mighty Network depends on what your Network is set to in Admin > Privacy & Access for “How Do People Join Your Network?”

If your Network is set to Accessible Through Plans, you should use Invite to Plan.

In Admin > Plans, click on the plan that includes the Network that you want people to join, and navigate to the Visibility & Sharing tab > Send Invites For This Plan

It will open up the invite form where you can invite members to that plan.

From here, you have two options:

  1. Invite to your plan via email.

  • Invite to Plan emails are one-time use and cannot be reused once an account has been created using the invite. For more information, check out this article.

  • You can enter an email address directly in the field or upload a CSV list of email addresses you want to invite all at once (available on the Community Plan and higher-tier plans; see below for more details)

  1. Use a plan Share Link that anyone who can access the link can use to join.

In either case, people will not bypass any gates you have set up for your plan (payment, questions, and/or approval).

If your Network is set to Invite-Only or Anyone Can Join, you should use invites and not plans to invite people to your Network.

In Admin, click on Invite to view the Invite Page. You can also click the icon in the upper right corner to navigate to this same page, and if your Network is set to allow members to invite (a setting you can adjust in Admin > Privacy & Access), your members will see this option too.

This is the Invite Page for your Mighty Network. To learn about inviting to a Space in your Network, click here.

Similar to inviting to a plan, you have two ways to invite members to your Mighty Network:

  1. Invite people via email.

    • Email invites are one-time use and cannot be reused once an account has been created using the invite.

    • You can enter an email address directly in the field or upload a CSV list of email addresses you want to invite all at once (available on the Community Plan and higher-tier plans; see below for more details)

  2. Share an invitation link for your Mighty Network.

In either case, people will automatically be granted access to your Network.

Important Note: If your Network is set to Accessible Through Plans, it is still possible to invite via share link or email from the Invite Page (this is different from plan share links and plan invites).

However, in this case, these invites will NOT grant automatic access to the Network. They will instead redirect people to join the Network via any visible plans that include the Network

Once the invite is sent, the recipient will receive up to three email reminders from our system after 3, 10, and 30 days, unless they join before these points in time. Email invites expire in four weeks. To learn more about tracking the status of Invites and Requests to Join, check out this article here.

Use a Share Link to Invite Members

Besides email invites, you also have a Share Link you can use in your email newsletter, on your website, or on social media. This share link is accessible to members even if you change your mn.co domain name to a custom domain.

To find your Share Link, go to your Invite page and copy your Share Link.

If your Network is set to Anyone Can Join, you should use invites to invite people to your Network, unless you also have a plan set up for your Network that you want people to join (this is less common).

Invite New People as Hosts or Moderators

When you send your email invites, you can choose to invite people as members, as fellow Hosts, or as Moderators. Click on the Network Permissions dropdown to make your selection. The default is “Invite as Members.”

Decide Whether to Allow Members to Invite

If you want to limit members from inviting new people to your Mighty Network, navigate to Admin > Setup > Privacy & Access > Invites, then scroll down to “Who Can Invite Members to Join Your Network?” Choose between "Any Network Member" or "Only Network Hosts and Moderators."

When you choose "Only Hosts and Moderators Can Invite," the Invite page will only be visible to you and other Hosts and Moderators. Networks set to Anyone Can Join will automatically enable members to send invites.

As mentioned above, if your Network is set to Accessible Through Plans, then allowing members to invite does not allow them to grant automatic access to the Network. Any share links or email invites you or your members send (these are different from plan share links and plan invites) will instead redirect people to join the Network via any visible plans that include the Network.

Set Your Default Invite Message

To set the default invite message for your Mighty Network, click your profile picture in the top right corner > Admin > Setup > Privacy & Access, then scroll down to “Who Can Invite Members to Join Your Network?” You will see an option to write the default invite message for your Network, which will appear for anyone with permission to invite when they navigate to your Network invite page.

Add the Ambassador Program for Member Referrals to Your Mighty Network

As a Host, you have the option to reward member referrals with the Ambassador Program. It tracks member referrals, adds badges for those who bring new members, and offers a way for you, as the Host, to set up manual rewards. The Ambassador Program is available on paid Mighty Networks plans starting with the Community Plan.

The Ambassador Program is not an Affiliate Program that tracks and automates payouts on Mighty Networks. To learn how to set up an Affiliate Program, click here.

Welcome Experience for Invited Members

On the web and mobile, when an invited member joins your Mighty Network from an invite link, a pop-up (with confetti!) greets them with a prompt to start a chat with the invite sender.

In addition, invite senders will now receive an encouraging new notification message after their first invitee joins. If the Ambassador Program is enabled on the Network, members will receive messages as they reach new Ambassador levels.

Download and Sign In to the Mobile Apps

Your Email Invites and Share Links allow people to sign up on either the mobile or desktop web.

To access your Mighty Network on the mobile apps, your members will sign up on the web, download the app, find your Mighty Network, then sign in on the app.

Upload a CSV of Your Email Contacts

If you have an email list and are on The Community Plan or a higher-tier plan, you can quickly upload a list of folks you want to invite to your Mighty Network by using the option to Upload CSV.

When you select this option, you'll be prompted to upload a CSV file with this information available: First Name (optional), Last Name (optional), and Email Address (required).

After uploading your CSV, we'll do a quick check to make sure that everything was imported correctly.

Once you confirm that all the information looks correct, you'll be prompted to customize the invite message you want to send.

If you upload a CSV with more than 50 email addresses, we'll send your invites in batches of 50 at a time to avoid emails going to spam. If you want to send out more at a time, please upgrade to The Business Plan, then contact us in Host Help.

This batching of invites will also impact your Sent Invites tab. You may see some invites in the queue for a short period of time before they go out.

The maximum size that we support for the CSV is 100,000 records. If you would like to invite a larger list, we recommend splitting your invite list into smaller CSV files and uploading them separately.

Keep Your Invite Reputation Strong

We take spam prevention seriously. When you're sending out large batches of invites, the speed at which your invites go out will depend on how many of your invites bounce in our system, how many people unsubscribe from your invites, and how many people convert as members.

We recommend uploading a clean, verified list of good email addresses when you invite new members in to ensure that your invites are sent out quickly and efficiently.

If your list is large and you haven't done a thorough check to make sure all of the email addresses on your list are current and have a strong probability of converting, your invite reputation in our system may get flagged. In this case, use the Share Link to send your invites through a 3rd party email service like Mailchimp or Convertkit.
