How Does Gamification Work in My Mighty Network?

Gamification, streaks and streak milestones, points and recognition

Gamification on Mighty is here! These features are available on Community plans and up.

The features that are available are in two sets:

  • Streaks and Streak Milestones

  • Points and Recognition

They can be used together or independently from each other, let’s dive in!

Streaks and Streak Milestones

Streaks allows members to track their daily visits to your Mighty Network to keep them motivated and coming back every day.

To enable or disable this feature, go to Admin > Gamification > Streaks.

On the web, streaks appear within the Gamification icon (next to the upper-right invite icon). On mobile, streaks appear within the profile area in the bottom tab.

The two types of streak data shown are:

  • Current Streak: the current number of days in a row they’ve signed in at least once

  • Max Streak: their longest streak to date

When members hit a certain streak milestone, a special emoji will appear next to their name on posts, comments, chat, and on their profile.

The streak milestones are:

  • 3 day ⭐

  • 7 day 🔥

  • 14 day 🚀

  • 30 day ⚡

  • 45 day 🎉

  • 60 day 💎

  • 90 day 🏅

  • 180 day 🏆

  • 365 day 👑

Currently, the streak milestones and emojis aren’t customizable.

The emojis will appear by your name throughout the community, helping to inspire other members to earn their own.

We also display a weekly calendar view showing members the days they recently visited your Mighty Network.

Selecting "See More" will take you to your profile where you will see a full calendar of your streak milestones. This is public to you and everyone else in your Network.

You can toggle the calendar off per profile by going to Personal Settings > Streaks and toggle off the "Public Streak Calendar".

Streak Notifications

Members will see a simple indicator on web letting them know where they stand with their current streak progress, as well as a mobile push notification (if enabled).

If a member has at least a 2-day streak and has not signed in by 2pm in their local timezone, they will receive a push notification on their mobile device reminding them to sign in and continue their streak.

Simple streak update popups also appear inside Mighty Networks (top right corner on web, or bottom of screen on mobile). These cannot currently be disabled.

Points, Recognitions and Community Values

In addition to streaks members can earn 10 points every day they visit your Mighty Network. They can use points to recognize other people for embodying 5 Community values that you set up.

Setting up Community Values

The first step is to set up your 5 Community Values.

Go to Admin > Gamification > Community Values > Get Started

Selecting “Get Started” will show you three default values

You can keep these three, edit them or decide to add more.

The Create menu will show you two options:

Create from Recommendations or Create New

Create from Recommendations will show you some suggestions to choose from

If you select one of the values here, you can edit the name and image

Create New will show you a page to create your own

If you edit or remove a value from the menu, it will be updated or removed from all members.

All values are worth 20 points and are not customizable at this time.

How Members Recognize

Members receive points in two ways:

  1. They earn 10 points every time they log into your Mighty Network

  2. You award them points via an Automation

After your Community Values are live, members will see points available to them in the game icon in the upper right corner

They will see any recognitions they have received and also how many points they have available to recognize others.

They can recognize a particular post, comment, chat, or person by hovering over their profile photo and selecting “Recognize”.

Next, they will see a pop up where they can then choose which value they are recognizing the person for and an option to give more details.

After “Recognize” is selected there is a confirmation of “Sent Recognition” and the person that has been recognized is notified.

Selecting that notification will take them to a page where they can say thanks or view the content where they were recognized. If there was an additional note added, it will appear here as well.

“Say Thanks” will open a new direct message with the member.

Gamification Automations

In addition, we have added a set of Automations to make gamification even more powerful! The below Trigger and Action will help you automate giving points and recognize members for streak milestones.

Trigger for “Reached Streak Milestone”

This Automation can award, tag or more members who hit certain Streak Milestones.

Action for “Award Points”

Want to give members additional points (or don’t have Streaks enabled)? You can set up this Action to give points for different types of Triggers.

You can now award points when members reach Ambassador levels, complete a Course, take a Quiz, earn a badge and much more!

One simple suggestion to award points quickly is to use the “Tag Added” Trigger, so that anyone you tag (tags are invisible to members) immediately gets your specified number of points.

FAQs

Can I turn off Streaks if I don't want them in my Network?

Yes. Admin > Streaks > toggle to turn streaks completely off

​Can I turn off Streaks but keep the Points and Recognitions?

Absolutely! Community Values can work independently from Streaks. Members will still receive 10 points every day they visit your Network and you can also use Automations to award points to them.

I don't want to get any push notifications for streaks, can I turn those off?

Yes. Personal Settings > Notifications > Streaks

How do I get credited for Streaks?

Streaks are based on daily visits to a Network, which means visiting between 12:00am and 11:59pm in your local time zone. To get credit for a visit, open your Mighty Network, either on the app, or on web. If you don’t see your streak update, try refreshing. You do not need to log out and log back in to get your streak.

If I want to remove a Recognition, how do I do it?

Deleting a Recognition will remove it from all members who have received it.
