Within the calendar view that's available for Events inside your Mighty Network, there's an option to automatically sync Events to your personal Google Calendar, Outlook Calendar, or Apple Calendar. You can choose to sync only Events you've RSVP'd to, or you can sync all Events.
You can also choose to only sync Events for a particular Space you are part of.
How to Sync Events with Your Personal Calendar
From the Events list on the web, click on the "Expand" icon to see a full-page view of the calendar.
Then, click on the gear icon in the upper right corner of the expanded calendar (not the gear icon of the Space) to open up the options for syncing Events with your personal calendar.
Once you've selected Sync to My Calendar, you'll see the options pop up for how you want to sync Events.
From there, choose if you want to sync only Events you've RSVP'd to or all Events listed in the calendar. Then, select the calendar service you want to use.
(When syncing events via the IOS app, the only option available is to add Apple Calendar. On the Android app, you will be directed to Google Calendar from the web browser.)
To sync Events to your Apple or Outlook calendar, you'll need to follow the instructions to copy a specific calendar link and add it to your calendar app. For syncing to Google Calendar, just add the calendar that pops up when you click on that option.
In all cases, when there are updates or changes made to Events in your Mighty Network, the updates will automatically sync to your personal calendar. This includes deleted/removed events.
Automatic sync may take a few days to update. You can manually sync your calendar at any time by repeating the calendar sync instructions above so that your synced calendar reflects your up-to-date changes.
Syncing Individual Events
On the individual detail page for each Event, there is also an option to only add one individual Event to your personal calendar. Just click on the option you see to Add to Calendar on each Event post, and you'll see a popup with options to export the information for just that Event.
Updating Your Calendar When You Edit Your Event
When you edit the details of an Event that had already been synced to your calendar, the Event in your calendar may not update immediately. It’s important to note the following:
- Google Calendar takes anywhere from a few hours to a few days to sync between Events.
- Apple Calendar defaults to syncing every 1 week, however, we recommend to select the option to sync every 1 hour.
- Outlook Calendar takes anywhere from a few hours to a few days to sync between Events.
The shorter the sync interval, the more up-to-date your calendar will be. The longer the sync interval, the less up-to-date your calendar will be.
To force your Events to update in your calendar, you can take these steps:
- Go to your calendar and remove the subscribed Mighty Networks calendar.
- Once you do this and the Events have been removed, then go to your Event in your Mighty Network and add to the calendar or sync to the calendar. You have the option to select “All Events” or just “My RSVPs.”
- If you have synced the calendar to an already existing calendar on iCal, then you can simply select the events and hit the delete button on your keyboard.
Once you’ve completed both steps, your calendar should be updated with the latest Events.
For your Members
When you edit an Event that will take place within two weeks from the time of your edit, you are given the option to message your Members so you can let them know how to force their Events to update in their calendars as well. As part of your message, you may want to provide them with the two-step instructions outlined above.
Event Reminder Notifications
Members who RSVP "Going" or "Maybe" to an Online Event will automatically receive a reminder notification 10 minutes before the Event is about to start. For Local Events, the reminder automatically gets sent 24 hours before the Event. For virtual events, Event reminders contain a link to the Event within Mighty Networks, but not a direct link to the event room (Zoom links, Crowdcast, etc.)
