As a Host of a Mighty Network with paid plans set up, you are responsible for making decisions about refunding members and how you want to process those refunds.
Refunds are not automatically generated at any point. No partial or full refunds are promised when a member chooses to leave your Mighty Network, they are removed from a paid Space, or they are banned from a Plan Access Mighty Network.
For purchases that were made on the web, you can manage refunds manually within your Stripe account.
Here are some quick instructions for how to go about this:
Find the Member in Stripe
Go to Payments and hover over the payment you would like to refund
Click the refund icon
Confirm the refund
When you refund a purchase, please be aware that transaction fees are non-refundable. This means that the refunded amount will be the original charged amount minus the transaction fees.
For purchases that were made via the Mighty Networks iOS app, these transactions do not appear on Stripe. For members who subscribe or purchase through iOS, you will see "Free" transactions in Stripe because they are paying via iTunes. For more about how you get paid and how Apple processes your payouts, go here.
Since you cannot directly refund a member paying through iOS, you can offer other ways to refund them if needed. These options include an iTunes Gift Card, a check, or a direct payment through a service like PayPal or Venmo. If the member has already requested a refund from Apple, another option is to reach out to Apple support on behalf of the customer with the case number.
In all cases, refunds are up to your discretion. If a member requests a refund through our support channels, the Mighty Networks team will connect that member to the creator of your Mighty Network via email in order to resolve the issue.
Refunding an iOS Purchase
If your member is requesting a refund on an iOS purchase, the member will need to do the following:
Go to reportaproblem.apple.com.
Sign in with your Apple ID and password
If you see the "Report" or "Report a Problem" button next to the item that you want to request a refund for, click it
Follow the instructions on the page to choose the reason why you want a refund and submit your request
If that doesn't do the trick, you'll want to check out this Apple Support Article for more information or reach out to Apple Support.
To revoke a member's access to a Plan following their refund, follow the instructions provided here.
