In your Mighty Network, you have the ability to upload and embed a variety of different types of content, including audio files, videos, and forms.
Currently, you can upload and embed content within an Article, an Event, or in the Sections or Lessons within a Table of Contents that live inside your Mighty Network. For direct uploads, Network Hosts can upload videos can be up to 4GB. Members can upload videos up to 25MB. All other file types can be up to 25MB.
Read on for specifics related to uploading and embedding each file type.
Uploading Video
For Network Hosts on all Paid Plans, we support uploading videos directly to Articles and Quick Posts up to 4GB. Space Moderators and Space Hosts will be able to upload videos up to 25MB. If you're on our Mighty Pro or Business Plan, you also have the ability to upload videos directly to your Courses.
To protect your content and to ensure that it is not shared beyond your control, please note that uploaded videos in Sections, Lessons, Articles, Quick Posts (anywhere in the platform) cannot be downloaded by Hosts, Moderators or members. We recommend using a third-party storage service like Google Drive to keep original copies of your content.
The ability to upload videos to Articles and Quick Posts is available on the web, iOS, and Android. Once they’ve been uploaded, your members will be able to watch your videos seamlessly across the web and all mobile apps. Members will not be able to download uploaded videos just yet but we will offer this in the future. The maximum resolution for uploaded videos is 1080p. When uploading on Android, be sure to select a video from your device, not from Google Drive.
To upload a video directly to a Quick Post, click the “+” at the top of your Space Feed to pull up the quick insert toolbar and you’ll see an icon that says “Photo, Video, File” when you mouse over it. Click the icon to upload your video file.
When playing a video from a Quick Post, your members will see the playback options from your video provider: closed captioning, playback speed, etc.
Here’s how to upload a video directly to an Article
Playback speeds are available on native video uploads and videos embedded with YouTube on web and mobile web.
Video Captions
Video captions are available on all platforms for videos uploaded natively in Table of Contents, Overview, Lessons, Sections, Quick Posts, Articles, Events, and Pages.
After uploading a video, Hosts will see the “cc” icon in the upper-right corner.
Hovering over the “cc” icon displays this tooltip: “Click to enable or disable the caption options for viewers”.
If you enable captions, then viewers will see the option to turn them on or off when watching a video.
If you choose to disable them, viewers will not see the option to turn on captions.
Some important things to note:
- Captions are auto-generated. There isn’t yet a way to upload or download a caption file for a video.
- We only support English captions currently, but hope to expand to other languages in the future.
- Captions are only available on natively uploaded videos, not livestream recordings. You will need to download the video to your computer and upload it natively to an Article if you’d like to include auto-generated captions.
Embedding Video
For all Hosts, we also support embedding videos directly from the services below.
🎥 YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook Video, or Searchie.
For Quick Posts, simply paste the video’s URL into the text area to automatically display the embedded version:
For an Article, an Event, or the materials inside Table of Contents, you can embed video directly by using the "Add Video" option when you open up the + button.
Copy the full URL where the video is hosted (not the full embed code), paste it into the field where you see "Video URL," and add an optional thumbnail. The video will then be embedded directly into your content, and members can watch it without leaving your Mighty Network. Note: You can embed YouTube videos set to Unlisted but not Private.
Note that vertically filmed videos will show an automatically zoomed-in horizontal thumbnail and grainy thumbnails will not be recognized. If your YouTube thumbnail is not displaying please go back to your YouTube video settings and ensure you're following their recommended specs (1280 pixels by 720 pixels).
To force closed captioning to play on your YouTube embedded videos, you will need to add a tag at the bottom of your video in your YouTube settings.
Login to your YouTube account and open YouTube Studio. On the left menu, click Content > select the specific video. Click the pencil icon to edit details > scroll to the end until you see "Show More", scroll and you'll see the tag section, add the attribute yt:cc=on, and click Save.
If you have multiple caption options on the same video, the ability to switch between those options won't be available when you embed the video into the platform. The video will only display the first language option.
Please note that closed captioning does not work on iOS for Youtube videos due to restrictions with Apple.
You can also embed a video URL for a Live Video. For step-by-step instructions on live streaming from Vimeo, click here.
Here's a preview of how to embed videos hosted on YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, or Searchie:
One important note for videos hosted on Vimeo: If you are embedding private videos hosted on Vimeo, there is one additional step you'll need to take to ensure that your videos play both on the web and within the Mighty Networks iOS and Android apps.
When you are adjusting the privacy settings for each video on Vimeo.com, you must select the privacy setting "Hide from Vimeo" and then add the option for the video to be embedded to "Specific domains", Then, you need to add the custom domain mapped URL for your Mighty Network AND "mn.co" as the second approved domain. If you do not have "mn.co" listed, the Vimeo video will not play in the mobile apps.
You will also need to select the setting to be "Fixed" and not "Responsiveness"
Here is an example showing how this was set up for a video that was embedded into Mighty Community:
Here's a preview of what a Searchie video looks like in a Course Lesson showing how transcriptions appear:
One important note for videos hosted on Searchie: Searchie does not have an API that enables course progress tracking, so if you want to enable course progress tracking, use our native video upload or YouTube. At the moment, we also do not support widgets being embedded.
🎥 Wistia, Loom, Dailymotion, or Rutube
For these services listed above, you can embed video directly by using the "Insert Embed" option when you open up the + button while creating or editing an Article, an Event, or the materials inside a Table of Contents.
Just copy the video URL (not the full embed code) where it's hosted, paste it into the box, and the video will be embedded directly in your content.
Here's a preview of how to embed a video hosted on Loom:
Please note that closed captioning does not work on iOS for Loom videos due to restrictions with Apple.
🎥 .MP4 Videos Hosted Elsewhere (for example Amazon S3)
You can also embed video .mp4 files hosted on services like Amazon S3. For this option, just use the "Add Video" option when you open up the + button while creating or editing an Article, an Event, or the materials inside a Course.
Copy the full link for the .mp4 video where it's hosted, paste it into the field where you see "Video URL," and add an optional thumbnail.
Embedding Audio Files
While it's not possible yet to upload sound or audio files directly to your Mighty Network for playback, we do support embedding audio files that are hosted on the following services.
🎙 Spotify, Soundcloud, Audioboom, Podbean, or Flat
For these services listed above, you can embed audio directly by using the "Insert Embed" option when you open up the + button while creating or editing an Article, an Event, or the materials inside a Table of Contents.
Just copy the full embed code for the audio file where it's hosted, paste it into the box, and the audio will be embedded directly in your content so that members can listen without leaving your Mighty Network.
Some services have different processes for embedding, so we recommend trying the embed code and the share link if the first option doesn't take. If you have any trouble, reach out to our support team with the URL of the audio file.
Here's a preview of how to embed audio hosted on Soundcloud:
For adding a Soundcloud embed, you will need to use the full embed code for a track hosted on Soundcloud, not the link for the track.
For adding a Spotify embed, you will need to embed the share link for Spotify versus the embed code.
🎙 .MP3 Audio Files Hosted Elsewhere (for example Amazon S3)
You can also embed audio .mp3 files hosted on services like Amazon S3. For this option, just use the "Insert Embed" option when you open up the + button while creating or editing an Article, an Event, or the materials inside a Table of Contents.
Copy the full link for the .mp3 audio file where it's hosted, paste it into the box, and the audio file will be embedded directly in your content.

Additional Supported Embeds
For the services listed below, you can embed these items directly by using the "Insert Embed" option when you open up the + button while creating or editing an Article, an Event, or the materials inside a Table of Contents.
Note about Typeform: You only need to paste in the URL of the actual form into the embed option, not the entire embed code. Customized Typeform links are not supported, please use the default link provided on the Typeform Share Page.
If you would like to add a Quiz to your Table of Contents feature, you can now do so natively. Check out this article to learn more.
***Note: You can embed a Google Slide presentation by opening up your slides and going to File -> Share -> Publish to Web -> Grab the Embed code -> Insert Embed into the Article, Event, or Lesson.
We do not integrate with Google Forms at this time, but you can embed a hyperlink to a Google Form in a Quick Post, Article or Lesson.
