Member Subscriptions

As a Host, you can charge for membership to your Mighty Network when you upgrade to the Business Plan or Mighty Networks PRO. You can upgrade anytime from Host Management > General Settings > Billing.

With member subscriptions turned on in your Mighty Network, you can set up a recurring membership fee that new members can purchase either monthly or annually. If you want to give new members the ability to try out or explore your network before they start paying the membership fee, you also have the option to turn on a free trial that lasts anywhere from 1 to 30 days.


Enable subscriptions

To enable member subscriptions once you've upgraded, go to Host Management > Features > Subscriptions and follow the steps to enable subscriptions. First, you’ll set up an account with Stripe, our 3rd party payment processor. After setting up your Stripe account, you’ll come back to Subscriptions, where we’ll confirm that you’ve successfully connected your accounts.

Once you're successfully connected to Stripe, you’ll be prompted to set up a monthly plan and choose a price you want to charge members each month. You can also choose to offer an annual plan. Typically, annual plans are priced at a slight discount compared to the monthly plan. 

When you enable member subscriptions, only new members will be prompted to pay when they join. Existing members will not be prompted to pay. There currently isn't a way for existing members to be automatically charged once you've turned on subscriptions, but they can choose to begin paying the monthly or annual fee by changing their subscription on their own and adding a credit card to their account.

One note on using Stripe: you will need set up a separate Stripe account for each Mighty Network for which you want to enable member subscriptions, so keep that in mind if you have more than one network with subscriptions enabled. 


Set up and manage your subscription plans

Once member subscriptions are enabled and you've added a plan, you'll see options to view your plans and your subscribers.

You’ll also see a hidden free plan. Every Mighty Network with member subscriptions has a free plan. This feature gives you and your other Hosts the option to invite in certain prospective members for free when member subscriptions are enabled.


Invite in members for free

As the Host, you can always invite someone to join your paid network for free by navigating to Host Management > Features > Subscriptions > Manage and tapping on the option that says Invite to Join Free.


Changing plans

To keep member subscriptions clear and simple for your prospective members, only one monthly and one annual plan can be visible at any given time. To change the price of your monthly or annual plan, you will need to create a new plan. Also, with Stripe, you can’t edit the price of an existing subscription.

To add a new plan, choose Create a New Plan under the Plans tab. When you add the new plan, it will be visible by default and it will automatically replace the prior version of the monthly or annual plan you've set up, which will now be hidden.

New plans only appear to new members joining your Mighty Network. The members who joined under older plans will still continue to pay the prior amount. You cannot migrate members from an older plan to a newer one at this time.

One final note on changing plans: It's best to update your plans directly in your Mighty Network, as attempting to update your Stripe dashboard directly will only interrupt the connection between Stripe and Mighty Networks. We recommend avoiding this.


Deactivating subscriptions

To deactivate member subscriptions in your Mighty Network, just go to Host Management > Features > Subscriptions and disable the feature.
