The Events feature, available for those on The Community Plan or above, offers the ability to create virtual or in-person events that you can share with your members.
How to Enable Events
To enable Events within your main Mighty Network, go to Network Settings > Content > Events.
When you enable Events in your main Mighty Network or within an individual Course or Group, you may choose to only let Hosts and Moderators create Events in that space, or let everyone (including members) create Events.
How to Create an Event
Once Events are enabled, an Events tab will appear within the left navigation bar. From here, you can use the + button to create an Event.
From there, you'll see options to customize the Event:
You'll see options to select and customize:
- Where the Event will occur within your Mighty Network (our main network or within a specific Course or Group)
- The optional Topic that should be applied to the Event
- If you want the Event to immediately appear in the Activity Feed when it's posted.
- The title of your Event
- The start time and end time for the Event, including time zone (for online Events, members will see the Event's time in their local time zone, and for Local Events, you can indicate if the Event's time zone differs from the member's local time)
- If you want this to be a Repeat Event
- The Event Type (see below)
- How you want to manage RSVPs
- The imagery and thumbnails you want to use for your Event
- The description for your Event (this area can include unlimited images, media embeds, file attachments, formatted text, and more—just like any Article you create in your Mighty Network)
When you publish your event you may choose to notify all members or you can schedule it to publish later.
Selecting the Event Type
Every time you create a new Event, you'll have the option to choose from one of five event types. The Event Type you select will signal to members what to expect from the Event. The Event Type appears on the Event itself in the Events list and when someone views the full details of the Event. The Event Type will also be visible in the feed if you choose to have your Event post to the Activity Feed.
If you are hosting a virtual Event, select the "Online" option and then choose the specific Event Type you want to use.
Here's a breakdown of each option:
When you select the Zoom Event Type, you'll have the option to connect your Zoom account directly and schedule Zoom Events right within your Mighty Network. Go here to see the full details of how to create a Zoom Event.
You can host an Online Meeting by directing members to a link of your choice. Simply copy the meeting URL and add it into the box that appears when you select this Event Type. Some of our favorite services are GoToMeeting, Join.me, or Google Meet. More here about how to use this Event Type.
You can host a Webinar by directing members to a link of your choice. Simply copy the webinar URL and add it into the box that appears when you select this Event Type. Some of our favorite services are Crowdcast, WebinarNinja, GoToWebinar, and YouTube Live. More here about how to use this Event Type.
You can host a Live Video Event by directing members to an external streaming service of your choice. Simply copy the video URL and add it into the box that appears when you select this Event Type. Some of our favorites are Crowdcast, Vimeo Livestream, or YouTube Live. You can also Go Live inside of your Mighty Network. More here about how to use this Event Type.
You can also host a Text Chat Event for all members of your network, or all members of a Course or Group. When it’s time for the Event to start, members can click on a link that will open up All Member Chat in that space. Note that if you have All Member Chat turned off by default, you’ll need to enable this feature before the Event begins. More here about how to use this Event Type.
If you're planning an in-person Event, you'll need to select the "Local" option, enter the location of your Event, and add an optional link if you want members to visit an external page to learn more.
Where Events Show Up in Your Mighty Network
When you publish an Event, it will show up in the Events tab you can access from the left navigation.
The default Upcoming Events tab will show all upcoming Events in chronological order. There are also tabs to view Nearby Events (Local Events nearby to the location saved in your profile), Past Events, and Your Events (the Events you've RSVP'd to).
When you're creating a new Event, you'll see an option to choose whether or not you want to also post your Event in the Activity Feed.
On the Events list you'll also see an option to expand a calendar view that showcases all the Events in your Mighty Network.
Events in the calendar view will be color-coded according to the space where the Event exists. Events in your main network will display in the Secondary Color for your Mighty Network. Events happening in a Course or Group will display in the color assigned to that Course or Group. Members will only see Events happening within a Course or Group if they are a member of that Course or Group.
How Time Zones Display
When you set a start time and end time for an Event, you can include the time zone. For any Online Events you create, members will see the Event's time converted to their local time zone. For Local Events, you can indicate if the Event's time zone differs from the member's local time.
Managing Event RSVPs
If you choose to give members the option to RSVP for your Event, you have a few different options available for how to manage RSVPs, including the options to restrict the Event Link or close RSVPs. You can also message Event attendees based on their RSVP status and download a full list of RSVPs.
Event Reminder Notifications
Members who RSVP "Going" or "Maybe" to an Online Event will automatically receive a reminder notification 30 minutes before the Event is about to start. For Local Events, the reminder automatically gets sent 24 hours before the Event. For virtual events, Event reminders contain a link to the Event within Mighty Networks, but not a direct link to the event room (Zoom links, Crowdcast, etc.)
Currently, we don't have the option to sell event tickets directly within your Mighty Network. The way you can do this today is by putting your Events inside a Paid Group or Course using our payments features so that you can then charge for access to that Group or Course.
