You have 4 different kinds of Events to offer members: local events, live text chats, live video events, and online meetings.
When you and your members create Events, they are visible to the members of the Course, the Group, or all members of your Mighty Network based on where you posted the Event. There is not a way to show an Event only to certain people. Additionally, if your Mighty Network is private or secret, there's not a way to make an Event publicly visible outside the Network.
Note: For live video events and online meetings, you'll use a 3rd party video service like Zoom or Crowdcast and link to specific Crowdcast or Zoom account from a special link in the Event. Read more here about how we recommend setting up a live video event or online meeting.
Events are disabled by default. To enable Events, go to Network Settings > Content > Content Types.
Like nearly all features, you can choose for only Hosts and Moderators to create Events or let members also create Events.
Create a New Event
Once Events are enabled, you can create a new Event by clicking on the "+" icon and selecting "Event."
Add a time, date, and time zone to your Event. Adding your time zone eliminates confusion for members who aren't with you in the same place. Events are in your member's time zone, except for local Events where you want them to show up at the right time!
Your Event has the option for people to RSVP. When you add an Event as a Host, you'll also be prompted with the option to Notify All members. It's optional, but will ensure your members are notified of your Event.
Event organizers also have the option to message groups of members based on their reply. Choose Message All Attendees to choose who you want to message.
Today there isn't the option for recurring Events, but both it and a calendar view of Events are things we have on our roadmap for the future.
Where Events Show Up in Your Mighty Network
When you publish an Event, it will show up in the Events tab you can access from the left navigation. Events are displayed in chronological order.
Your newly published Event will also show up in the Activity Feed of your Mighty Network, Course, or Group when you publish it, and re-emerge in the Activity Feed when there is new activity on that Event.
This means that if you publish a number of Events at one time, your Activity Feed will be filled with Events. There isn't yet a way to hide Events you're setting up from the Activity Feed. The workaround is to Schedule Events in advance.
When members see your published Event, they will have the option to RSVP, export the Event to their calendar, and add comments.
All members who RSVP "Attending" or "Maybe" will receive an event reminder 24 hours before a local event. For a live chat, online meeting, or live video event, they will receive an event reminder 30 minutes before it starts.
To cap attendees, switch off RSVPs manually. There is not an option yet to automatically cap the number of members who can attend.
Events are public to all members of your Mighty Network, Course, or Group. To create a private Event, you would need to place it in a private Course or Group.
Currently, we don't have the option to sell event tickets directly. The way that you will do this today is to put your Events in a Paid Group or Course and charge for that Group or Course.
