Two of the most effective ways to start conversations in your Mighty Network are through polls and questions.
When you're on the web, you can ask a question directly to everyone in the Network by clicking on the + button inside the box at the top of the feed and selecting the option to add a poll. From here, you can choose to ask a simple question or make your question a Multiple Choice poll, a Percentage Poll, or a Hot Cold poll.
To ask a question from the mobile app, just select the option to "Ask a Question." Right now, you can only create new polls when you're on the web, but we'll be adding the option to our mobile apps very soon.
If Topics are enabled in your Network, each post, question, or poll added from this field can be tagged with a specific Topic. This post will then show up within that Topic and it will be surfaced to members in the feed who are following that Topic. A post can only be assigned to one Topic at a time.
Ask a Question
To crowdsource answers from your members, choose the option to create a poll from the box at the top of the feed after you click on the + button. Write your question, then hit “Post.” This will hurl your question into the activity feed, where it’s shared with members and the answers will start to add up.
Multiple Choice Polls
To add a Multiple Choice, Hot Cold, or Percentage Poll when you're on the web, click on the + button and choose the option to create a poll. Then, select the poll type you want to use. For Multiple Choice polls, you can customize up to five answers.
When you're done, other members are invited to contribute their experience.
As more members answer your poll, you can see how you stack up relative to the rest of the Network.
Hot Cold Polls
Hosts and members can also add Hot Cold polls for asking questions that might include answers that land across a positive or negative spectrum. To add a Hot Cold poll, change the poll type to “Hot Cold” from the dropdown menu.
Hot Cold polls show up in the feed as a toggle bar, where members can choose their answer on a negative-to-positive scale.
Hosts and members also have the ability to create Percentage polls on the web. To add a Percentage poll, just select “Percentage” from the poll dropdown menu.
By default, Hosts can add an unlimited number of polls and members are limited to one every hour. This is to ensure that any one member doesn't get too enthusiastic with new questions and overwhelm the experience for everyone.
The color of the poll corresponds to the Topic in which it’s been added, which is a quick and easy way to connect a poll to a Topic (learn more about tricking out your Topics here).
When a poll or question takes off and starts trending, it will surface for more and more members in their feeds.
